Algrano is an innovative Swiss startup transforming the global coffee industry by directly connecting coffee producers with roasters through its online trade platform. Founded in 2015 by Raphael Studer, Christian Burri, and Gilles Brunner, the company simplifies and streamlines the coffee supply chain, leveraging technology and a service-oriented approach to promote transparency and sustainability in direct trade.

Central to Algrano’s mission is its Discovery to Delivery service, which acts as a matchmaker for roasters and producers. The platform allows roasters to discover coffees that align with their needs and values, connect with verified producers from Latin America, Africa, and Asia, and manage every aspect of the supply chain—from financing and logistics to quality assurance.

Since its inception, Algrano has shipped containers of coffee globally, bridging continents and cultures. By building a trusted network of hundreds of producers and roasters across Europe and the Americas, Algrano has become a key player in fostering collaboration and creating a more sustainable, transparent, and equitable coffee community.

Clients Problem

The application was actively evolving with new features being developed across multiple areas. The internal team was looking to expand their development capacity to handle the growing number of new functionalities. Over time, various development patterns had emerged in the codebase as different solutions were implemented. Looking to address these challenges efficiently, the client decided to strengthen their capabilities by augmenting the team with our specialists.
